Shilajit is an ancient herbal substance that contains over eighty-five minerals and trace elements the human body needs to function optimally. Shilajit has been consumed for thousands of years in Asia because of the many benefits it provides. From boosting cognitive and mental functions, which plays a significant role in basically everything, we do in our daily lives to supporting physical, emotional, and spiritual processes.

WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?

This particular Shilajit comes from the Altai Mountains complex mountain system of Central Asia extending approximately 1,200 miles (2,000 km). The jagged mountain ridges derive their name from the Turkic-Mongolian Altan, meaning “golden.” But don’t be fooled by its size, since the Altai mountains don’t contain many places where you can find Shilajit. There are only a few locations where it comes to the surface and covers the mountainsides like thick black tar. However, the locals know about unique places where this black resin covers the steep mountainside at 3000m of altitude, which simultaneously offers a spectacular view.

In some cases, Shilajit passes through rocks back into the mountain, pools inside a cave or a crevice. People have reported that it can form in such a thick mass that it starts forming stalagmites and even forms large puddles of this rich crusty resin. Sites like this provide the primary source of Altai Shilajit for locals to collect the best possible natural resin.

HARVESTING AND CLEANING

Firstly, Shilajit that secretes through the cracks in the rock is supposed to be collected and immediately cleaned with clean and warm spring water. We separate Shilajit from dirt and everything else unwanted. Many Shilajit providers don’t use clean water since it means a significant cut down on the cost of Shilajit production. As a result, the finished product is unclean and sometimes even hazardous to your health since it can contain unwanted heavy metals that can damage your body.

How we store it and where it plays an essential part in the overall quality of the final product. We use special purple glass containers that give it a much longer life span while protecting Shilajits’s nutritional value. This way, it can be stored for a very long time while still being completely healthy and safe for consumption. Beware of plastic containers and cheap regular glass since it usually means shilajit itself was already compromised.

INTAKE: With a spoon, break off a piece of shilajit in the size of a grain of wheat or in the size of a pea and dissolve it in 200 ml of fluid. Shilajit dissolves fully within a few minutes. Stir and consume. 

The recommended daily intake (0.2 to 0.6 g) should not be exceeded. 

After three weeks of intake, a one-week break is recommended.
